This is different ****ting on the Constitution as you quaintly call it. Usually Presidents go for an authorization to use force. In this situation Obama, went to the UN and didn't bother with Congress.

WTG, Al. I sense that the observation was less than well-received.

So what the hell are you then? Like I said, I thought the Liberal Party would be right up your alley. Is it just a case of you agreeing with their ideology/platform just not a fan of the party structure/leadership?

it's more of an indication of the differences between the american and canadian political spectrums.

                            Huh?

                            I'm talking about Canadian politics.

In the present times, the Liberal party has favoured a variety of policies from both right and left of the political spectrum. When it formed the government from 1993 to 2006, it was a strong champion of balanced budgets, and eliminated the deficit completely from the federal budget in 1995 by reducing spending on social programs or delegating them to the provinces, and promised to replace the GST in the party's famous Red Book. It also legalized same-sex marriage and the use of cannabis for medical purposes, and had proposed complete decriminalization of possession of small amounts of it. The party generally holds liberal views on various other social issues like abortion.

During the 2006 election the Liberal party's platform included plans for:
Introduction of a national childcare program
Immediately cutting tax for low income earners by 1 point from 16% to 15%
Tougher firearm laws, including a ban on handguns and semi-automatic rifles
Reducing wait times for medical treatments
Increased support and opportunities for seniors, immigrants and the aboriginal populations
Additional investment in research and higher education
Improvements to the health care system
Social service spending to be increased
Environmental issues and the research needed
That all seems like right up Asher's alley to me.

I KNOW Asher is not a supporter of the Conservative Party and if he scorns NDP as being socialist, him being a Liberal makes sense. Maybe he just doesn't like the party, though he agrees with its basic ideology and stances?

No ****ing way does Asher support them. The same Conservative Party led by Stephen Harper who appeared at an anti-gay marriage rally and told them "We can win this fight!"? The same Conservative Party that excluded funding for abortions?

No way. Asher supports gay marriage, gun control, pro-choice, etc. etc. No way is he a Conservative.

Or is he a Republican in the sense that Imran is (ie- not at all)?
